Surgery, Yes Surgery.

(warning: contains slightly bad language)

//-start of poem-\\

Surgery, yes surgery!
This could be the scourge of me.
This surgery’s no perjury
And it could test my urge to flee…

Get undressed, yes get undressed!
Gown exposes my bare ass!
Embarrassment is so damn crass
’Cuz they don’t care ’bout me I guess…

Needle poke, yes needle poke!
IV drips are one big joke.
They hurt as if your hand is broke.
“Just suck it up, you pansy bloke!”…

Off to sleep, yes off to sleep!
Drugs have drowned me dark and deep.
While off to sleep I hear no peep:
But nightmares start their creeping creep…

Doctor’s knife, yes doctor’s knife!
Why oh why wield so much strife?
This doctor’s knife might take a slice
That might extend my woe filled life…

Waking up, yes waking up!
Drugs have made me feel real rough.
This grogginess makes me less tough
So I just want to shout: “enough!”…

Pain arrives, yes pain arrives!
“Scale of pain: from ‘one’ to ‘five’?”
It feels like it’s a “fifty five” -
Please give me drugs, my pain’s so high…

Percocet, yes percocet!
That’s the drug that they have left.
It makes me so much less upset
When percocet is what I get…

Don’t do this, and don’t do that!
“Do’s” and “Don’ts” are full of crap!
Just find a way to heal real fast
And make this pain subside at last!…

Surgery, yes surgery!
Nothing like you’ve heard it’d be:
It puts you on the verge to see
What level would your courage be…

Author's Comments

I wrote this right after having surgery. Unlike my  > prior poem about surgery (written in anticipation of surgery) this one was written right afterwards while still recovering. This second surgery was corrective surgery to fix the problems of the botched first surgery (so I guess I was madder this time...).

I will write a personalized poem just for you. Go to  > Purchase, Services (Services from Poet Roamoff) to see how to order one (and how to provide information I will use to write the poem).
