My Life.

//-start of poem-\\

Why is life so solemn?
It makes my soul so sad.
Why is life so somber?
My life has been so bad.

Where will it be blissful?
It seems so sad and bleak.
Where will it be brilliant?
My life has been so weak.

How has life lacked loving?
I’ve lost love all along.
How has life lacked living?
My life has been so wrong.

When will I feel finer?
I feel I’m fit to fail.
When will I feel fervor?
My life has been so frail.

Why do I feel fretful?
I grow so grey and grim.
Why do I feel faded?
My life has been so dim.

Where will I reap gladness?
Glum gloom returns anew.
Where will I reap rapture?
My life has been so blue.

How has hell been spiteful?
Sad sorrow seems to flow.
How has hell been hateful?
My life has been so low.

When can I claim comfort?
I cry and cry instead.
When can I claim calmness (sssshhhh...)?
(It's calm when I am dead.)

Author's Comments

I composed this poem in an attempt to evoke emotions. Sorry it is so dark; but deep sadness is a powerful emotion.

I created the structure and the first pass for this poem in early 2007. Because it is so sad, I did not look at it again for a while. In mid 2008, I reviewed it and decided that making it intensely alliterative without changing the original structure would allow it to have more impact.

I will write a personalized poem just for you. Go to  > Purchase, Services (Services from Poet Roamoff) to see how to order one (and how to provide information I will use to write the poem).
