//-start of poem-\\

-We're in California-

   Rattle rattle shake shake.
   Fault lines will wake.
   Shatter shatter break break.
   It’s an earthquake!

   Rumble rumble roll roll.
   Here’s a big hole.
   Stumble stumble fall fall.
   Hear a “help” call.

“Help me!” “help me!” scream scream.
   It’s a mean scene.
   Shimmy shimmy lean lean.
   Pauses between.

   Mayhem mayhem slide slide.
   Chaos outside.
Door jam door jam hide hide.
   Huddle inside.

   Over over done done.
   Earthquake has won.
   Sober sober calm calm.
   Cling to your Mom…

-We're in California-
-Where earthquakes have torn ya-

   Raining raining pour pour.
   Thunder will roar.
   Draining draining more more.
   Mudslides in store.

   Flooding flooding plop plop.
   Makes you just hop.
   Muddy muddy slop slop.
   Mudslides won’t stop.

   Oozing oozing mud mud.
   Creeping like crud.
   Cruising cruising drudge drudge.
   Flowing like fudge.

   Crawling crawling flow flow.
   Mudslides will grow.
   Falling falling “no!” “no!”.
   Losing your home.

   Groaning groaning grieve grieve.
   Cannot believe.
   Moaning moaning seethe seethe.
   So you just leave…

-We're in California-
-Where earthquakes have torn ya-
-Where mudslides adorn ya-

   Drying drying drought drought.
   Rain is in doubt.
   Crying crying pout pout.
   Makes you just shout.

   Bitter bitter hot hot.
   Water is sought.
   Wither wither drop drop.
   Losing this crop.

   Crawling crawling ants ants.
   Watching them dance.
   Falling falling plants plants.
   Crops have no chance.

   Worry worry fears fears.
   Skies are so clear.
   Scurry scurry tears tears.
   Failure is near.

   Grieving grieving harm harm.
   Lost all its charm.
   Leaving leaving “darn!” “darn!”.
   Sell off your farm…

-We're in California-
-Where earthquakes have torn ya-
-Where mudslides adorn ya-
-Where dry drought will scorn ya-

   “Fire!” “Fire!” “run!” “run!”.
   Haze and smoke come.
   Water water none none.
   This ain’t no fun.

   Ashes ashes pray pray.
   What a bad day.
   Trashy trashy grey grey.
   No one should stay.

   Windy windy blow blow.
   Where will it go?
   Trending trending fro fro.
   Where will it grow?

   Acres acres scarred scarred.
   Caught them off guard.
   Places places charred charred.
   Home loss is hard.

   Losing losing bare bare.
   Nothing is there.
   Moving moving where where?
   Really don’t care…

-We're in California-
-Where earthquakes have torn ya-
-Where mudslides adorn ya-
-Where dry drought will scorn ya-
-Where wildfires won’t warn ya-

Author's Comments

This poem took a lot of effort to write. I am proud of its alliterative / repetitious style. I think it would be good as lyrics to a rock song. If you want to help me write the music for this (I will pay or share profits) please send an email to  > Roamoff@JustPlainPoetry.com.

I will write a personalized poem just for you. Go to  > Purchase, Services (Services from Poet Roamoff) to see how to order one (and how to provide information I will use to write the poem).
