And Still the Baby Cries…
//-start of poem-\\
You change her
you walk her
you feed her
you rock her.
And still the baby cries…
You hold her
you lie her
you bathe her
you dry her.
And still the baby cries…
You pamper her
you undress her
you swaddle her
you caress her.
And still the baby cries…
You talk to her
you cling to her
you hum to her
you sing to her.
And still the baby cries…
You run with her
you play with her
you dance with her
you sway with her.
And still the baby cries…
You sit down with her
you play clown with her
you don’t frown with her
you lay down with her.
And still the baby cries…
You give her a dolly
you give her a rattle
you give her a blanket
you give her a bottle.
And still the baby cries…
You massage her all over
you freshen her with powder
you surround her with music
you sing to her much louder.
And still the baby cries…
Then daddy comes home
and rocks her to sleep
and says “We’re so lucky,
not even a peep.”
And still the mommy cries…

I love my daughter, Shannon, more than anything in the world. I wasn't there for most of her early childhood and teenage years. I wish I could have been there for her. She has inspired most of my best poetry. See all of those poems > here.
I really like infants and toddlers. Since I was very young, I have been very good around them. I seem to be able to understand exactly what a young child needs and I seem to be able to communicate with them. I'm better at it than any other person I have been around (including women). This ability has inspired several poems. See my > biography (near the end, I list some of the poems in this genre).
I will write a personalized poem just for you. Go to > Purchase, Services (Services from Poet Roamoff) to see how to order one (and how to provide information I will use to write the poem).
